A hospitalized adult is a person who has entered a hospital centre for short-term treatment in order to receive CONTINUOUS CARE; no contribution is required from such a person under the Act respecting Health Services and Social Services.

Such an adult continues to be ELIGIBLE for the BASIC BENEFITS to which he or she is entitled because of the state of his or her health and to special benefits, except the supplements prescribed for haemodialysis, diabetes, pregnancy, lactation.

At the same time, a SHELTERED adult who NEEDS CONTINUOUS CARE, if during the continuous care period he or she retains the shelter place or the institution confirms that they will return to the shelter, retains the status of a sheltered adult for the purposes of payment of the benefit.
