Individual clients of the Income Security Program, whose basic allowance is reduced due to family solidarity and whose assistance has already been reduced due to one or more resources provided by the father or mother may receive a special exemption.
- An exemption of $100 ($50 for the spouse of a student) may be granted on the amount calculated as income for room and board provided by the mother or father.
The exemption is applied by order of priority:
- On the amount of the parental contribution that the person is deemed to receive;
- On maintenance allowances paid to this adult person by his mother or father;
- On the room or board income.
