The contribution applies for a MAXIMUM OF 2 YEARS, beginning on the latest of the following dates:
- the date on which the adult received his or her FIRST ASSISTANCE BENEFIT under a last resort assistance program, even if the assistance was not paid regularly;
The program in question may be an income security program in force before the enactment of the present Act or a similar program in another province of Canada.
- the date on which the adult WOULD HAVE BEEN ELIGIBLE, after August 1, 1989, if the parental contribution had not made him or her ineligible for assistance.
An application must have been filed and assistance must have been refused solely on this ground.
