13.03.01 – Disposing of property or liquid assets without consideration

In the TWO YEARS PRECEDING an application for assistance or the payment of benefits, adults must not have:

• WAIVED their rights;

• DISPOSED of property or a liquid asset without fair consideration;

• SQUANDERED their property or liquid assets, that is, wasted or spent them thoughtlessly,

SO AS TO:

• become eligible or make their family eligible for assistance

or

• be granted greater benefits than would otherwise have been granted to them.
