When a recipient's assistance has been cancelled for a given month, a NEW APPLICATION may be accepted for the MONTH OF CANCELLATION. The assistance may be paid after the eligibility test for liquid assets has been conducted and in accordance with the provisions for doing the calculation during the month of application. Special provisions are provided in the case of a sheltered independent adult or an adult placed in the care of an intermediate resource or foster home, when the reason for cancellation is an excess of liquid assets.
When the reason for the new application is the termination of income, earnings or benefits, the DATE OF THE NEW APPLICATION cannot be earlier than the date of such termination (date employment ended, date period of eligibility for benefits ended and so on) causing a change in the applicant's situation. However, it may be subsequent if the recipient applies after that date.
When the applicant is eligible for benefits for this month, he retains his eligibility for the purpose of the granting of special benefits requiring receipt of assistance for a certain number of consecutive months.
