The prescribed reductions will apply when, without serious cause, an adult:
- refuses a suitable employment, or through his/her attitude or behaviour, ensures that an employer does not hire him/her;
- abandons the employment he/she occupied;
- loses his/her employment as a result of carelessness in his/her work or misconduct;
- He refuses, without sufficient cause, the right to assert his rights and benefits.
and that he/she did it, so as to become or render the adult’s family eligible to financial assistance or so as to be granted a benefit of a greater amount than that which would otherwise have been granted. In other words, the reduction applies when the adult has not acted as a reasonable and responsible person would have under similar circumstances.
A financial reduction applies for a period of 12 consecutive months, including the month the application is made.
However, the reductions will not apply to a recipient:
- who, without serious cause, refuses or leaves an employment. The same goes if he or she has lost such a job due to his or her misconduct.
Exception : When the event is brought to the attention of the advisor after the closing date, the reduction shall apply for 11 months.
The reduction shall aslo apply for 11 months when the event is brought to the attention of the advisor before the closing date and the file is processed after this date.
