03.01.11 – First Nations coming from the United States (Native American)

Anyone residing in Canada must have a status to stay here legally. This legal authorization is granted to persons who possess Canadian citizenship, are registered as STATUS INDIANS or have acquired permanent resident status.

An American citizen registered as a Status Indian under the terms of the Indian Act of Canada can legally reside in Canada. He may also be eligible for Income Security if he meets the eligibility requirements stipulated in the Framework Policy.
