An adult admitted to shelter who is a member of a family continues to be part of the family for the FIRST 3 MONTHS of his or her residence.
In the case of a new application, the family (both spouses and the children, if applicable) will be granted the basic benefit plus the severely limited capacity for employment allowance and any adjustments.
An adult hospitalized for LESS THAN 3 MONTHS at the time of admission to shelter is deemed to have been admitted to shelter from the DATE OF HOSPITALIZATION. Such an adult is no longer part of his or her family from the 4th month following hospitalization, to avoid the three-month period being extended to maintain this adult as part of the family.
An adult hospitalized for AT LEAST 3 MONTHS at the time of admission to shelter, without interruption between the end of hospitalization and admission to shelter, is deemed to have been admitted to shelter from the 45th day preceding admission. Such an adult is no longer part of his or her family from the fourth month following admission, to avoid the three-month period being extended to maintain this adult as part of the family.
