An independent adult eligible for financial assistance is someone who:
Does not have a spouse or dependent children;
OR
Has a spouse who is eligible for the 66/72 benefit;
AND
Is of full age and is not considered a dependent child (for a child of full age who is considered a dependent child, refer to the sections “Child of full age in vocational secondary or post-secondary education” or “Child of full age in general secondary school”);
OR
Is a fully emancipated minor.
Minor
A minor (not fully emancipated) is not eligible for last-resort financial assistance as an independent adult.
Person of full age
A person who reaches 18 years of age is eligible for financial assistance the month following the day he or she applies, but not before he or she is of full age.
